Two very Different Ends

“What are the differences between Mark Zuckerberg and me? I give private information on corporations to you for free, and I’m a villain. Zuckerberg gives your private information to corporations for money and he’s Man of the Year.” – Julian Assange

As this happens it occurs to me only time and history can "judge" a figure as controversy as him, but in the meantime the world sure runs amok with corruption and power abuse. World, what say you?

2012 from Kids' perspective

I remembered having a brief moment of the above scenario on the closing year of 1996, to the miscredit of Nostradamus but good fortune for the rest of us 1997 went and passed. Now with 2012 closing in and judging by how smart are kids these days, I am pretty sure some of them realised the implications of such possibility.

Rich but unhappy? Either you are not rich enough or you aint doing it right

The age old question which was the sort of last bastion of consolation for poor people... "Can money buy you happiness?" finally fell to some breakthrough in scientific research recently. Watch CNN's Does money equal happiness? for the full details.

It would appear the key issue is while money does not bring you happiness itself, it ENABLES one to choose his or her experience freely which is deeply tied to one's happiness. Meaning if you are rich and still not happy you are not spending it right, so there you have it! There goes the last bastion and consolation for being poor.

Something about Life and a box of Chocolate?

Today is no special occasion or anything, but we at Brick Lives would like to show case the accumulated strips about an old plastic man and his friends sitting on a bench talking about the happenings around the world for the past 2 years. The very first strip of Brick Lives series is inspired by a certain very "Gumpy" movie so hence the poster.

Screw Up Massively and become a Millionaire

Yeah as a layman I will bet you heard of stories of workers getting salary cut, laid off and fired when he or she screws up big time. But as the story goes the top side aint playing fair at all, by real life example if you are on the top side after you screwwd up big and have to resign you still get paid big time -- I mean, why don't you and I have jobs like that? Vision 2020...or Bankrupt 2019? Why not Both?

Well we have this (Vision 2020) and we have this (Bankrupt 2020). The best part is apparently we can have both of them.

The Eternal Riddle

Some one asked me this question a loooong time ago, either because of fate/luck/incompetence the loop is still going on... a dedication to the guys world wide who are stuck in the same trap.

Below is the dialog in its original form, seems like it was just yesterday.

God bless.

The Thailand Red Shirts

Some issues have affected the comic update rate lately, this might get worse before it gets better. This strip dealing with Thailand declared state of emergency was in fact supposed to be done a few days ago - when the news was still hot - not that it isn't now, in fact it's getting hotter!

Anyway, for some behind-the-scene information, Jack's comment in this strip was a reflection of a friend's comment, who is unhappy with the current local political situation when he read the proposed script. As much as I would like to see the Malaysian Parliament being stormed in the light of some local headlines at times, in reality it can be a very unsettling approach to solve any problems.

The Malaysian Parliament building

It is in my opinion, not uncommon for a nation to be divided on core issues, but if every time a side won and the other side took to the streets, nothing can be done to progress forward, no?

The Submarine That Can't Dive

As our proud little nation got its first submarine ever, the KD Tunku Abdul Rahman, a Scorpene-class, built by DCNS in Spain - what is supposed to be a milestone for the Royal Malaysian Navy, turns out to be a controversy as the submarine has an issue... it is unable to dive. Oh the irony!

So Much for Deterrent

The notion of "every one is equal in front of the law" is becoming more and more of a big lie as the rich and powerful can always find some leverage with cash and people influence. The recent issue of Indonesia Rages over Luxury Jail Cells for Wealthy illustrate this issue very clearly.

Count Your Blessings

Think your day was bad? The irony of this post is that as we did this, Haiti was struck by yet ANOTHER earthquake. If you think things can't get any worse - well, it just did. So before you complain about your life, you might want to think what Haiti is going through...and Count Your Blessings.

UN has taken over the capital as the Government and Police lose control

If you haven't heard about the quake in the first place, catchup on it via CNN here.

The National Palace wasn't spared either

Read more on Wikipedia's entry here.

For this special "public service announcement", we decided to do a unique 8-panel comic strip instead of our usual 4. We'll return with our typical 4 after this.
