The Thailand Red Shirts

Some issues have affected the comic update rate lately, this might get worse before it gets better. This strip dealing with Thailand declared state of emergency was in fact supposed to be done a few days ago - when the news was still hot - not that it isn't now, in fact it's getting hotter!

Anyway, for some behind-the-scene information, Jack's comment in this strip was a reflection of a friend's comment, who is unhappy with the current local political situation when he read the proposed script. As much as I would like to see the Malaysian Parliament being stormed in the light of some local headlines at times, in reality it can be a very unsettling approach to solve any problems.

The Malaysian Parliament building

It is in my opinion, not uncommon for a nation to be divided on core issues, but if every time a side won and the other side took to the streets, nothing can be done to progress forward, no?

NEM = NEP 2.0?

For Malaysians, today marks a very special day, for our 6th and current Prime Minister, Dato' Sri Mohd. Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak, will be announcing the NEM (New Economic Model), which is designed to replace the NEP (New Economic Policy), which has been criticised for being unfair to the other minority races in Malaysia via its affirmative action that was put into place by his father, Tun Abdul Razak bin Hussein Al-Haj, the 2nd PM, which was also responsible in setting up Barisan Nasional, the current leading Government party. While we wait for the news of the new NEM, here's what Al Jazeera (English-language channel version) has to say:

If you're wondering who's the guy who keeps saying "Shit!", he's none other than Ibrahim Ali, the founder and 1st president of Pertubuhan Pribumi Perkasa Malaysia, or better known as Perkasa, a Malay supremacist (Ketuanan Melayu) organisation (yes it's surprising in a post-Nazi era, we still have such institutions).

We can all use some bliss

It is in my believe any sane person would have a jolt of reality from time to time; sometimes it makes you wonder if ignorance is one of the best weapon against all odds.

The Submarine That Can't Dive

As our proud little nation got its first submarine ever, the KD Tunku Abdul Rahman, a Scorpene-class, built by DCNS in Spain - what is supposed to be a milestone for the Royal Malaysian Navy, turns out to be a controversy as the submarine has an issue... it is unable to dive. Oh the irony!

Rich get huge traffic fines, Some justice at last

It is noted EUROPEAN countries are increasingly pegging speeding fines to income as a way to punish wealthy scofflaws who would otherwise ignore tickets. How many times have we heard stories of arrogant rich people asking a fine up front when caught speeding by traffic officers? Well then, we can safely bet a maximum fine of 16 million dollar would surely to put those freaking rich trail blazers back to the normal speed track.

50 Cents a cup of Iced water? You are busted!

As in the local China Press paper yesterday. They are proposing a law which if passed, could put some one behind bars for 3 years for making "excessive profits". Hmm... wonder if that applies to other stuff like tolls and cars huh?
